Putting a concert tour manager on the road for four weeks will cost you around £11,200 in wages, before you have paid for a single hotel room, flight, or per diem.

That is money well spent on the right tour, but most of what decides whether a run of dates makes money or loses it is indicated in the budget, in the supplier bids and rehearsal planning of pre-production, and in the advance. That is the part of the job I now offer on its own, from London, at a fixed price and with no travel costs attached. My thirty-plus years of experience will help your artist save or make money, whilst protecting your commison.

Pricing for concert tours

Prices below are for a typical 20-show, four-week run. Longer and shorter tours are priced in bands further down the page.

Tours of more than 40 shows, or with an unusually large production, are quoted individually.

How booking works

If you would rather see how I work before committing, start with a Quick Budget at £400: a one-page budget built from your agent’s date sheet, with two revisions. If you then book any package, the £400 is credited in full, so it costs nothing in effect.

Packages are paid 50% on booking and 50% when advancing begins, which can be weeks or months before the first show. The final budget revision and the Master Tour handover are released on final payment. My own Master Tour seat is included; any extra seats your crew needs are charged once the tour starts¹.

I take on a maximum of three tours in pre-production at any one time, so it pays to get in touch as soon as your agent starts confirming dates.

Festivals

A festival one-off often takes more work than a week of club shows. And, flying a tour manager out for a single show typically means three days’ wages for the travel, show day and journey home, plus flights, a hotel room and per diems. That is roughly £2,000 – do you really need ‘tour manager’ for a one-off show?

The Summer Season is priced at the UK rate, with a supplement of £500 for each Europe-by-road date and £750 for each international fly-in. Festivals confirmed after you book are added at £800 each, plus the same supplements where they apply.

A single festival is paid in full on booking, because the work starts straight away. The Summer Season is paid 50% on booking and 50% when advancing begins for the first festival. Festival season is a fixed window and I take on a limited number of acts each summer.
